Bhubaneswar: Acting on the plaint filed by advocate Sivasankar Mohanty alleging negligence on the part of traffic police at college square of Cuttack due to which a Plus III Ravenshaw University student Annapurna Choudhury died on the spot after being hit by a truck, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has sought a report from Police Commissioner asking him to explain his stand over the issue.
The commission has directed the commissioner to submit the report by October 31.
This apart, the OHRC has also sought clarifications from the commissioner over the issue of traffic penalty relaxation during the three-month breather allowed by the state government.
It has also sought information from the DCP traffic (Cuttack-Bhubaneswar) and regional transport officer of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack over the current action being taken by the administration to put violators in line.
The commission will send the recommendations to the state government in this regard.
