Cuttack: The authorities of Ravenshaw University here Thursday held a staff council meeting and initiated the process to revoke the sine die soon. It is learnt that the sine die will soon be lifted after having discussions with the residential committee, district administration and deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Akhilesvar Singh Friday.
A varsity official said the sine die will be lifted coming Monday and the remaining examinations of both UG and PG courses will be held from May 17 to 19. Besides, the authorities have also decided to declare the results in the last week of this month.
Meanwhile, the students who were protesting over several issues in the varsity withdrew their agitation after having discussions with the Vice-Chancellor here Thursday evening.
Sources said five members of the ‘Chhatra Kriyanusthan Committee’ met Vice Chancellor Ishan Kumar Patro and discussed the issues. The varsity authorities have agreed to withdraw their decision to hike the hostel fees and shifting the hostel to another building.
“The students don’t need to worry about the examinations as notifications regarding it will be put up in the varsity’s website very soon,” said VC Ishan Kumar Patro.
Notably, the varsity was closed sine die May 9 following students’ unrest over fee hike.
