New Delhi: People always talk about the lucrative amounts that the Indian cricketers earn while representing the country. Most of them earn retainers’ fees in crore and added to it are the match fees. Well for that matter, the support staff of the Indian team is also looked well after by the BCCI.
The Indian cricket team will be looked after by head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach, R Sridhar and the newly-appointed batting coach Vikram Rathour who has come in place of Sanjay Bangar.
Recently Ravi Shastri was given a three-year extension by the BCCI on the recommendations made by the Cricket Advisory Committee headed By Kapil Dev. There were two others in the panel – both former Indian cricketers – Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy. The decision to retain Ravi Shahstri was unanimous even though there were well-known applicants for the post including Tom Moody and Mike Hesson.
Well not only has Ravi Shastri got an extension, his annual salary has gone up by 20 per cent. In his previous contract, Shastri used to get rupees eight crore annually, now the head coach will get close to Rs 10 crore.
Similarly the annual salaries of Bharat Arun, R Sridhar and Vikram Rathour has been fixed at Rs 3.5 crore annually. And in case the Indian team do exceedingly well in a tournament and is remunerated with bonus amounts, the support staff will also benefit the same way.
