Bhubaneswar: Even as the BJP’s state unit is set to welcome former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi to the party fold, recent statements of senior party leaders in the state Dilip Ray and Bijay Mohapatra have sobered down the sentiments of the party cadres. Speculation is rife that both the leaders may quit the saffron party.
Former Union minister and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray has alleged that an influential leader of his party does not want any development in Rourkela.
“An influential leader of my party wants that the number of votes polled in favour of the BJP in Rourkela and Sundargarh in the last assembly elections should not be repeated this time as he has a feeling that I will get the entire credit if any development of Rourkela is done during my tenure,” Ray had told media here Sunday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured a second bridge over Brahmani river and upgradation of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) to a super specialty hospital in Rourkela. However, no steps have been taken in this regard till date, he said.
Ray warned he will try one last time. “If I fail in my efforts, I will take a decision in next 3-4 days,” he added. The BJP legislator, however, has not revealed his
future plan.
