Rayagada: Rayagada district administration Tuesday sealed Kolnara Tehsil office for seven-days after tehsildar of the office tested positive for COVID-19.
Rayagada collector Pramod Kumar Behera said that the administration sealed the office in order to contain further spread of the virus.
As the tehsildar visited Padmapur block in official work, the district administration has also declared a three-day shutdown in the block.
“Fire brigade is sanitising office premises. Office staff, who had come in contact with the Tehsildar have been directed to stay in home quarantine,” Behera added.
Besides, other employees of the office have been permitted to work from home and advised take preventive measures (in offices) such as maintaining physical distancing of at least six feet, using face covers or masks and frequent hand washing.
Behera further clarified that contact tracing drive has already started. Swab samples of the staff will be taken for COVID-19 tests during their home quarantine period.
With 47 new cases reported in the district Tuesday, the COVID tally in the district has gone up to 242. While 102 patients are undergoing treatment at COVID-19 hospitals, 138 people have recovered from the disease. Two COVID-19 patients succumbed to the virus in the district.
