Balasore: The Congress has demanded free and fair re-polling to be held to booth-187 and booth-189 under Jaleswar Assembly seats in Balasore May 19. The party alleged irregularities during the polls and taken up the issue with Collector Ramesh Rout April 30.
Chief Election Officer of the state, Surendra Kumar had ordered re-polling in these two booths May 19. Voting will be held for candidates contesting Parliamentary and Assembly seats.
Friday, Congress MP nominee Navajyoti Patnaik met DIG (Eastern Range) Amitendranath Sinha at his office and wanted to ensure free and fair re-polling. It was learnt that 892 voters will exercise their franchise in booth 187 and 1098 voters in booth 189 from 7 am to 6 pm.
Re-polling will also be conducted in five booths in Mayurbhanj on the same date. The booths that are slated for re-polling are Bhugudakata (Booth-16), Purnachandrapur (Booth-19), Khanua-2 (Booth-166) and Athapada(Booth-248 under Khunta block) under Baripada Assembly seat and Kakharuashola (Booth-104) under Bangiriposi Assembly seat.
