Re-polling in 5 booths May 19

Baripada: Re-polling will be conducted at five booths in Mayurbhanj district May 19. This was stated by district electoral office and Collector Vineet Bhardwaj at a press meet here Wednesday. Meanwhile the district administration has made all arrangements for the re-polling.

The booths which will be going for re-polling are Bhugudakata (booth 16), Purnachandrapur (booth 19), Khanua-2 (booth 166) and Athapada (booth 248) of Khunta block under Baripada Assembly seat and Kakharuashola (booth 104) under Bangriposi Assembly seat. Voting will start from 7 am and continue till 6 pm.

All the booths will be under CCTV surveillance during voting.

The Collector said that the re-polling will be held due to some anomalies during the fourth phase of polling. Bhardwaj also said that officials discharging poll duty were responsible for glitches. Information has been sent to state election officer for action against the officials, he added.

It may be noted here that elections were held to seven Assembly constituencies under Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat April 23 in the third phase and in Badasahi, under Balasore parliamentary seat, was held April 29.

Voting had taken place at 2,364 booths in the district. The district had recorded 78.21 percent poling.
