Chinese phone maker Xiaomi tasted success in India with its Redmi sub-brand, especially after it launched the extremely successful Redmi Note series. This series has been among the best selling smartphones in the country offering unmatched value for money proposition to its customers.
The latest in the series, Redmi Note 8 Pro has been officially launched in India. This launch comes just days after the company claimed to hit the mark of 100 million Redmi Note users globally. Here is all you need to know about Redmi Note 8 Pro.
This phone features a 64-megapixel primary sensor as its USP. That said, it also has some other highlights, including a gradient back panel and up to 128GB of onboard storage among others.
The successor of Redmi Note 7 Pro, the Note 8 Pro houses a quad rear camera setup. This new phone by Xiaomi is also powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio G90T processor. Besides, it comes preloaded with Amazon Alexa along with Google Assistant. This phone utilises the dual wake functionality of the Helio G90T SoC to wake up the screen with either of the digital assistants. It sports a 4,500mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging support.
This phone runs MIUI 10 based on Android Pie and is scheduled to receive just launched MIUI 11 in December.
Design wise, this phone comes with the waterdrop-style display notch and that is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. It also features liquid cooling technology to reduce heat while playing graphic-intensive games. It sports a 6.53-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone measures 161.7×76.4×8.81mm and weighs 200 grams.
Redmi Note 8 Pro offers a quad rear camera setup that includes the 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.89 lens. This setup also includes a secondary 8-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle f/2.2 lens that has a Field of View (FoV) of 120 degrees. Further, there are two 2-megapixel sensors — one with an ultra-macro lens and the other supporting depth sensing for taking pictures with bokeh effect. On the front, it features a 20-megapixel shooter with an f/2.0 lens.
Talking of camera features, this phone supports 64MP HD, ultra nightscape mode, AI scene detection 5.0, AI beautify, smart ultra-wide angle mode, portrait mode and 3D lightning among others. Similarly, the front camera has features such as panorama selfie, palm shutter, AI scene detection and AI studio lighting.
Redmi Note 8 Pro also features excellent connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, IR blaster, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Besides, it has sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and a magnetometer. Further, the phone comes with a rear-facing fingerprint sensor.
MI is offering the phone in a multitude of colours such as Gamma Green, Halo White, and Shadow Black.
Coming to the online sales partner, Redmi has chosen Amazon over Flipkart this time. Redmi Note 8 Pro will go on sale Monday noon October 21 on amazon.in, mi.com, and mi home stores. The offline sales will follow, the Xiaomi said.
Redmi Note 8 Pro includes double data offer on Airtel with Rs 249 and Rs 349 recharges for 10 months to make the purchase even more attractive for customers.
The flagship of Redmi series, this phone debuted in China back in late August alongside Redmi Note 8 where it costs CNY 1,399 (about Rs 14,100) and goes up to CNY 1,799 (about Rs 18,200).
The Redmi Note 8 Pro price in India is set at Rs 14,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while it also gets a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option that has been priced at Rs 15,999. To top it all, this phone comes with a top-of-the-line 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model that carries a price tag of Rs 17,999.
