Malkangiri: Maoists killed a class X boy at a praja court branding him as a police informer at Tashrim in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, police said Sunday.
According to Bijapur Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel, victim Ramesh Kunjam was a student of Ashram School in Tashrim of Bijapur district. The ultras abducted him September 16 and kept him hostage for two days before they produced him in a praja court where they killed him on charges of being a police informer. Panicked, family members cremated the body without informing the police.
In a related development, five Maoists have been killed in an encounter at Gummirevulu in Gudem Kotha Veedhi block of Visakhapatnam bordering Odisha. The encounter occurred when personnel of anti-Maoist force, Greyhounds, and the Special Protection Force came face to face with the Maoists during a combing operation.
