Rengali dam authorities open one sluice gate

Kaniha: The Rengali dam authorities opened one sluice gate of the reservoir Sunday at about 9:00am to drain out excess floodwater and maintain healthy water level in the dam.

The floodwater is being released through gate number 7.

The decision was taken amidst rising water levels in the reservoir owing to incessant rains in the upper catchment area of Brahmani.

According to the dam authorities, the water inflow into the dam stands at 1430 cusecs while outflow stands at 2126 cusecs.

The floodwater was released in presence of the executive engineer and Rengali dam authorities along with other officials.

Meanwhile, the water level in the dam stands at 123.33 metres against the full storage capacity of 123.50 metres.
