Bhawanipatna: Veteran BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra Saturday pulled up the police for tardy pace of investigation in the Mamita Meher murder case and said that report of a sex racket in Mahaling college exists in the case diary.

“Although the FIR in connection with Mamita’s murder was registered October 13, police took three days to file a case diary in Bangomunda SDJM Court. It was filed October 16,” Mohapatra said.

“The case diary clearly mentions that a sex racket was in operation at the college hostel, but Gobinda Sahu’s name was very conveniently omitted from it,” he added.

“The probing team of police was trying to weaken the case against the prime accused Gobinda Sahu,” he alleged while pointing that a foul play could have been attempted between October 13 and October 16.

It may be mentioned here that Mohapatra had earlier alleged that Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra was with key accused Gobinda and the victim Mamita in Raipur days before the school teacher was brutally murdered. Meeting between Mishra, the accused and the deceased was held thrice in the city, Mohapatra had claimed.
