Rescued Himalayan vulture sent to Nandankanan Zoological Park

Talcher: A Himalayan vulture rescued by forest officials here in Angul district was sent to Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar Saturday.

The Himalayan griffon vulture which is mostly seen in Himalayan mountain ranges and the Tibetan plateau was rescued after it dropped down at Durga Mandap at Dera here December 10. On being informed by locals, forest officials rescued the bird and provided it treatment by a veterinarian in their custody.

The bird after its recovery was handed over to the Nandankanan zoo authorities, ranger Trilochan Behera said. The zoo already has 18 vultures including two Himalayan griffons, the ranger said.
