Bhubaneswar: Expressing resentment over non selection of Amiya Dash for Ekamra-Bhubaneswar seat, BJP workers staged a dharna in front of the party’s state headquarters here Thursday night. They also allegedly vandalised the party office.
The protest continued till Friday morning and the supporters of Dash were seen raising slogans against Babu Singh, who was chosen over Das and other party leaders.
Babu resigned from BJD and has joined BJP a few days back. On the other hand, Amiya Dash is with BJP from beginning and is a popular leader in Ekamra constituency though he was defeated in 2014 polls.
Announcing its candidates Thursday night, BJP provided ticket to Babu instead of Amiya that spread outrage among the latter’s supporters.
The workers allegedly barged into the party office and vandalised the property. On the other hand, some miscreants damaged BJP vice president Sameer Mohanty’s car parked at his residence Thursday night.
