Restrictions re-imposed in parts of Sringar after injured teen dies

Srinagar: A Kashmiri teen who was injured in clashes with security forces last month died at a hospital here in the early hours of Wednesday. The death prompted authorities to re-impose restrictions in parts of the city, officials said.

Asrar Ahmed Khan, 18, was part of a mob holding protests August 6 in Soura, a day after the Centre announced the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and its bifurcation into two Union Territories, the officials informed.

Khan, a resident of Ilahibagh in Soura who was admitted to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), battled his injuries for almost a month and died shortly after midnight Wednesday, officials said.

Asrar Ahmed Khan however, did not suffer any bullet injuries according to information received from the police.

The local authorities however, did not want to take any chances after Khan breathed his last. Restrictions were re-imposed in Downtown Srinagar and parts of the Civil Lines area here as a precautionary measure.
