Revenue department peon caught red-handed while accepting bribe

Dhenkanal: Vigilance sleuths raided the revenue inspector’s office here Friday and caught a peon red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,200 to facilitate mutation of land for Chintamani Mohanty.

The accused has been identified as Ajay Kumar Pattanaik. He had been working at the Manipur revenue inspector’s office near Dhenkanal College here. A case has been registered (No.15/19) against the peon by the Vigilance Department.

According to the information, Chintamani, a resident of Siaria village in Dhenkanal district bought the particular plot in May. To issue him the record of rights, Pattanaik demanded a bribe of Rs 1,200.

On Chintamani’s complaint a trap was laid and Pattanaik was nabbed inspector Sushant Mishra and constables Pradeep Patra and Srinivas Mishra of the Vigilance Division. They also seized the money which was paid to the peon.
