Baripada: Vigilance sleuths Wednesday nabbed a revenue supervisor of Suliapada tehsil of Mayurbhanj district on charge of accepting bribe of Rs 2,500 from a visually-challenged woman to provide her an enquiry report for sanction of marriage incentive amount of Rs 2.5 lakh in her favour.
The accused was identified as Sanjay Kumar Padhi, a revenue supervisor of Suliapada tehsil and a resident of Baghda Road in Baripada town.
Later, the Vigilance sleuths raided his residence and government office on charge of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case was registered in this connection by the Balasore Vigilance department.
The complainant deserved government incentive, which is given towards marriage between a person with benchmark disability and a normal person as per provisions of state SS&EPD department.
Vigilance sources said that Devi Beshra is a visually-challenged woman and a native of Dhadangiri under Suliapada police limits. She met Padhi for a grant of an enquiry report so that she could get the Rs 2.5 lakh marriage incentive amount as provided by the state government.
Subsequently, Padhi demanded bribe from her to submit an enquiry report to Suliapada tehsildar regarding the marriage of the complainant. On getting information about this, the accused was nabbed red-handed. The entire bribe money was recovered from Padhi’s possession and seized.
