Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested a revenue inspector (RI) and an assistant revenue inspector (ARI) of Subarnapur district on charges of bribery, Friday. RI Rajendra Kumar Mishra and ARI Panchanan Dang of Khandahata RI circle under Biramaharajpur tehsil of Subarnapur were taken into custody after they were caught receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant to forward the enquiry report in a revision petition case filed by him for issuance of record of rights, Vigilance sources said.
About the trap, they said the complainant approached the Vigilance alleging the RI and the ARI of demanding bribe for the enquiry report. “Accordingly, a trap was laid and the duo was caught accepting Rs 5,000 from the complainant on the premises of Khandahata RI office. The entire bribe money was recovered from the accused,” they added.
