RMC for Green Hub plan in Steel City

Rourkela: Both the Central and State governments have been insisting on promotion of the unconventional energy sources and reducing dependence on thermal and hydro power.

The Rourkela Municipal Corporation has decided to promote use of solar energy in the Steel City and to turn it into a Green Energy Hub. The RMC organised an awareness workshop on use of solar energy.

RMC Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida, deputy commissioner Sudhanshu Bhoi and other officials attended the workshop. ‘Solarisation Rourkela’ project was launched with an aim of turning the city into a Green Energy Hub.

A state-of-the-art sanitation service and the ‘Solarisation Rourkela’ project are a joint venture of the RMC and Koel Fresh Private Ltd.

It was stated that Swachh Sathis and Swachh supervisors will play an important role in promoting solar energy by undertaking an awareness drive.

People will be advised to set up roof-top solar panels to harness solar energy. In the first phase, solar panels will be laid on residential roofs in Koelnagar, Civil Township and Chhend areas.

“This is how we are going to achieve the objective of Green Hub in coming days,” said RMC Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida.

He added that people will be conscious about the green energy and use it to meet their daily requirement of energy in their houses.
