Saintala/Titlagarh: In a tragic road accident, two persons were killed while two others suffered grievous injuries following a head-on collision between a truck and the auto they were travelling in. The accident occurred near Luhurapali square under Saintala police limits in Bolangir district Friday morning. The deceased have been identified as Subal Sahu, a resident of Siskela village, and Kaibalya Majhi. Among the injured are Debashis, son of Subal, and the truck driver.
Subal, Debashis and Kaibalya were sweet vendors. The trio was travelling in a auto-rickshaw to Kuikeda market to sell their products. As they were nearing Luhurapali square on NH-26, a fully-loaded truck coming from the opposite direction hit the auto.
The intensity of the accident was so huge that the auto-rickshaw and the truck suffered extensive damages. The mangled remains of the auto rickshaw and the truck overturned on the side of the road shocked the locals.
Subal and Kaibalya died on the spot while local residents rescued Debashis and the truck driver and rushed them to Saintala government hospital. Later, Debashis was shifted to Bolangir district headquarters hospital (DHH) for further treatment after his condition deteriorated.
