Bhubaneswar: A girl died Tuesday after a scooter hit her bicycle from rear on National Highway 16 near Jaydev College at Naharkanta on the outskirts of the Capital.
The deceased identified as Suchismita Behera is a resident of Bhubanpur in Balianta. Behera, a Plus II First Year student, had taken admission in the college just five days back. According to an eyewitness, “When she was on her way to college a youth of Haridashpur hit her bicycle form the rear with his scooter. The girl fell off her bicycle and sustained severe injuries. Later, the locals rushed her to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
Angry locals blocked the NH at Hanspal Square alleging traffic negligence. The commotion ended when police authorities reached the spot and pacified the angry mob. The incident occurred on the road which connects Naharkanta village to NH 16 near Hanspal Square. This area has been marked as a black spot by the NHAI authorities since 2016 owing to numerous mishaps.
