Road blocked over water short-supply

Keonjhar: Upset over short supply of drinking water, villagers including women staged a road blockade for four hours at Naranpur in Keonjhar district Tuesday. They squatted on the road along with pots and buckets. They said they had apprised the administration of the shortage of water.

As no step was taken to address their concern, they were bound to take to the streets. Over 2,000 people live in Naranpur, but the water being supplied to them is insufficient to meet their needs. They demanded supply of water from pipelines laid near their village from the Kanjhari dam.

People of Haladitangir had blocked a road over the same issue Monday.
