Bolangir/Nayagarh: As many as three persons were killed in separate road accidents in Bolangir and Nayagarh districts on the wee hours of Wednesday.
In the first incident, a truck driver was killed following a head-on collision between two trucks on NH-26 near Sudapada in Bolangir district.
One Sartaj Singh, a driver who was standing on roadside, was hit by a truck near Sudapada Kalyan Mandap on Bolangir-Sonepur road. While Singh succumbed to injuries on the spot, the driver of the truck also sustained critical injuries as he lost control and the truck turned turtle.
Police soon reached the spot and rushed the truck driver to Bolangir hospital.
“Our driver (Sartaj Singh) was fixing tyre of his truck on roadside when the other truck hit him,” said, Gurjit Singh, fellow driver of the deceased.
In another incident, two motorcyclists were killed after a head-on collision with a truck near Siriganda under Daspalla police limits in Nayagarh district. The deceased have been identified as Biswajeet Pradhan and Krushna Nayak. Both, were in an inebriated state when the mishap took place, reports said.
