Road turns nightmare for Badasilinga villagers

Gania: With the advent of monsoon, the 15-kilometer long kuchha road connecting Badasilinga village with Gania town of Nayagarh district turns into a nightmare for local residents.

Such is the condition of the road that people find it tough to ride their bicycles on it. At times of heavy rains, road connectivity ceases to exist for days altogether. Emergency service vehicles such as ambulances and fire tenders also cannot reach the villages under this panchayat.

To make things worse, people are forced to use alternative routes that are no better. Quite often people have no choice but to spend more time and money to reach Gania through Daspalla and Chhamundia.

Locals are a worried lot like the construction of the Kucha road is yet to begin even though all the culverts needed on the road have already been built under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

“We have approached the local administration several times in this context.  But they are indifferent to our demands,” rued a local villager.

Gania JE Laxmikant Rout, meanwhile, assured that the road construction work would begin after the rainy season.
