While present day Oriya films are criticised for adopting the “copy-paste formula”, it seems directors have made up their minds not to continue with the prevailing trend. Rather they have started to come up with original scripts. Interestingly, many directors are also trying to dole out scripts with different subjects and tastes. Triangular love stories and women-centric films have been tried a few times in this regional industry. Yet Lokanath Barik, popularly known as Musha bhai in the industry, is coming up with Mo dil kahe Ilu Ilu.
In an exclusive interview with Sunday Post the actor-turned-director said, “I am also the writer of the script and it is an original one.” When asked about the genre of the film he said, “Well, it does not necessarily fall into a certain genre. It is 60 per cent women-centric and 40 per cent family drama. Besides, it also carries some masala factors like action, an item song punched along with a couple of romantic songs.”
When asked how he made up his mind to direct films, Musha bhai said, “I have helped many directors get a producer and vice versa. Yet the producer of the film asked me to take the responsibility myself and I took it up. This is my debut directorial project.”
“The music contains sequential numbers, an item song, a female solo and some romantic numbers. It has some action and comedy scenes,” Musha bhai said about the music of the film.
The film stars debutants Dev shree and Shruti Das Mohapatra as the lead actors. It also casts veterans Mihir Das, Bina Maharana and Bijaya Mohanty. Akshya Bastia, best known for his acting aptitude, is playing an important and hatke character. Producer of the film Rabin Nanda is playing the baddie and the film also stars Ratan Meher and Bhabani.Produced under Priyashree media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Rabin and Rajesh Padhi have produced the film. This is their second approach after the Sabyasachi-Archita starrer Smile Please.
The music of the film has been scored by Agniraj Kishore and the dialogues are by Chinmaya Das Pattanayak. Shooting is still very much on and, hopefully, the film would be released sometime after the Raja festival in the state.
