Rourkela Super Specialty Hospital vandalized one day after inauguration by President Kovind

Rourkela: Just one day after being inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind, Rourkela Ispat Super Specialty Hospital was vandalized by irate people Monday.

As a result, a palpable tension has gripped the hospital premises.

The 200-bedded hospital was inaugurated by the President Sunday. It has facilities for neurology, neuro surgery, cardiology, cardio thoracic & vascular surgery and nephrology. The hospital is also adorned with avant-garde medical equipment like MRI 3 Tesla, CT scan 256 slice, 2 Cath Labs (uniplane & biplane), CRRT machine besides having five modular operation theatres laced with sophisticated technology.

Monday morning, CITU, CPI (M) members and local residents barged into the hospital at about 10: 30 am and protesting against the hospital not having adequate doctors and nurses, vandalized hospital properties. They vented their anger on medical equipments, computers and furniture.

On getting information, senior officials of RSP and the hospital reached the spot and tried to pacify the people. According to sources, the Left parties are demanding the hospital be handed over to AIIMS so that it would be properly managed.
