Rs 10 lakh looted at gunpoint in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: In a broad daylight robbery, three bike-borne miscreants looted Rs 10 lakh from Shreeya Traders- a wholesale shop at Jharsuguda bypass Thursday afternoon.

The miscreants arrived at the shop and while one remained at the door outside the shop, the two others barged into the shop. Inside the shop, one of the miscreants placed a gun on owner Shankar Kedia’s head, asking him to hand over all the money he had by that time. Then the trio fled away from the spot with Rs 10.45 lakh in cash.

On being informed, superintendent of police Ashwini Kumar Mohanty reached the spot and the police launched an investigation. Roads connecting Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Brajarajnagar have been sealed and all the vehicles passing on the stretch are being checked, it was learnt.
