Rs 11 lakh looted at gun point from cash van in Sundargarh district

Kuanrmunda: Bike-borne miscreants looted over Rs 11 lakh cash from a security agency van at gun point just in front of Kuanrmunda panchayat office under Kuanrmunda police outpost in Sundargarh district, Tuesday.

Staff of the security agency was carrying the money meant for distribution among old age pension beneficiaries of five panchayats under Kuanmunda block, from a branch of ICICI bank in Rourkela.

The moment the vehicle stopped in front of the panchayat office, five bike-borne miscreants surrounded the van. They then terrorised the occupants at gunpoint and severely beat up the guard who tried to prevent them from looting the van. The miscreants then decamped with the booty amounting to Rs 11,35,000.

Later, the injured guard was admitted at Kuanrmunda Community Health Centre and is currently undergoing treatment. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
