Rs 12cr sanctioned for bridge in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: It’s like a dream come true for thousands of people of Kalimela and Padia blocks in this district. The state government has sacntiined Rs 12 crore for the bridge across river Putanpali at Poteru.

The tendering process has been completed. This proposed bridge will benefit about 30 thousand people of Similibanchha, Bhubanpalli, Tandabai, Kaladapalli and Padia. Moreover, the people of Bapanpalli, Katampalli, MV-60, MV-61 and Kurti, who cross the river precariously for their day-to-day affairs, stand to benefit from the project.

People of the region have been demanding the bridge for the past 50 years.

Significantly, the proposed bridge will straightway connect many villages of Chhattisgarh with other parts of the region. Now-a-days, people are going to Padia on a diverted route covering about 60km, whereas going through this bridge will be only 20km long to Padia block headquarters as well as to Chhattisgarh.
