Bargarh: The Bargarh Town police Friday cracked a major loot case of Rs 19, 00, 000 and some gold ornaments from a house in ward number-5 in this town January 12, apprehending three robbers.
The arrested robbers have been identified as Vikash Matari (27) of Saharpada, Ashok Rana (34) and Sushanta Bhue of Beheratikra, ward no-2.
According to police sources, one Ankit Rekhani, a resident of ward no-5 had lodged a report saying he had been away from home for some business works January 12 and his mother was alone. The same night three miscreants had entered his home, hold her on gunpoint and decamped with cash amounting to Rs 19, 07, 000 and some gold ornaments.
Coming to know about the incident, Ankit had lodged a report with the Bargarh police station. Taking seriously, the police under the supervision of Bargarh SP formed a special squad under the leadership of IIC Sadananda Pujari. Including the IIC, the squad comprised eight officers comprising sub-inspectors Sanaya Nayak and Soumyakanta Baliarsingh.
Acting on a tip-off, the team conducted raids on a place and arrested the trio. During interrogation, they confessed to have robbed Ankit’s house January 12.
Cash amounting to Rs 18, 24, 000 and diamond, gold, silver ornaments were also recovered from the robbers, the police said, adding that they have also seized a motor cycle, a knife, two mobile phones and two masks from their possession.
