Chhatrapur: In a major breakthrough in the case of Rs 25.30 lakh being looted from Gurapalli toll gate staff under Khalikote police limits in Ganjam district, police have arrested six accused.
While briefing media people at the conference hall of the superintendent of police at Chhatrapur, SP Brijesh Kumar Rai Tuesday informed about the arrest, identifying the accused as Sanjeev Mallick alias George of Satyanagar area in Bhubaneswar, Prashant Kumar Sethi alias Nanda of Nirmaljhar in Khalikote, Subash Behera alias Chamera of Jagatpur area in Cuttack, K Ramesh Das alias Rao of Puri, Yogendra Behera alias Kukuda of Bolagarh in Khurda and G Shreenivash of Vishakhapatanam.
Rs 10.15 lakh in cash, one pistol, 3 live bullets, a Bolero van, two bikes, a scooter and a bicycle were also seized from their possession.
Rai also informed that the elusive members of the gang would soon be apprehended.
Notably, the accused looted Rs 25.30 lakh from the tool gate employees while they were going to deposit the money at a nearby Axis bank July 2.
