Rs 50,000 burgled from temple hundi, locals demand police outpost

Sajnagad: In yet another case of thieves targeting temples, a cash of over Rs 50,000 was burgled from the Panchalingeswar temple, a popular Shaivite shrine under Nilgiri sub division of Balaswar district Thursday night.

Miscreants broke open the temple hundi and took away the money. The theft came to light Friday morning.

On getting information, Nilgiri IIC and SDPO reached the spot and started an investigation. A scientific team and a sniffer dog squad would be pressed into service for investigation, police said.

Locals agitated over the frequent thefts and burglaries at temple and pleaded for the setting up of an outpost near the shrine.
