Rs 54 lakh of valuables recovered by ECoR this year, returned to owners

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railways (ECoR) has recovered valuables worth Rs 54 lakh this year and returned them to the rightful owners, an official said here Saturday.

The valuables recovered by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) this year till August include 237 wallets and bags, 96 mobile phones, 31 laptops, gold ornaments worth Rs 26 lakh and cash of Rs 4,00,000, the official stated.

“Some 310 incidents of recoveries were reported in the first eight months of this year. We have also recovered thousands of important documents such as identity cards and certificates and handed them over to the rightful owners,” the ECoR official said.

Passengers call up helpline number 182, operated by RPF, and report their lost items. After recovering them, the RPF officials call up the concerned passengers and return the items with proper receipt and acknowledgement, added the official.
