Begunia: In a daylight robbery, six unidentified armed miscreants robbed two employees of a private firm of around Rs 61 lakh at gunpoint near Gediapalli Square in Begunia police limits here Thursday.
According to the complaint of the victims, Srikant Kumar Sahu and Laxmi Narayan Khuntia, both employees of the firm, the incident happened at 1.30pm when they were on their way to a bank in Khurda to deposit Rs 61, 47, 247 which they had collected from Khandapada and Kalapathara areas.
“Around six masked men on three motorcycles waylaid our car (OD-02-AN-1681) near Gediapalli Square on Baghamari-Kalapathara Road in Bolgarh block and threatened us at gunpoint. They snatched away the bag containing the cash and sped away towards Khurda market,” reads the complaint lodged with Begunia police.
On being informed, Dhalapathara outpost as well as Begunia police rushed to the spot and started a probe before recovering the four-wheeler.
Later in the day, Khurda sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Jugal Kishore Das took stock of the spot. “The complainants are being quizzed at the police station. Since we are yet to get any satisfactory account of the reported robbery we have not registered a case,” Das said, adding that they are investigating all the possible angles to the incident.
Meanwhile, the complainants alleged that the police were callous in dealing with their complaint.
