Rs 7cr lined up for tourism development in Koraput

Koraput: Collector K Sudarshan Chakrabarthy held a meeting at the Collectorate to discuss the development of Koraput district in the fields of tourism, transport, health, education, road, hygiene and sanitation. The meet also discussed parking problems and clearing encroachments.

Civil society members, senior citizens, public representatives and well known persons from the district were invited to the meet.

Many suggestions on the smooth running of SLNC Medical College, recruitment of hospital staff, development of logistics at the district hospital in Jeypore, improvement of hygiene and sanitation at Gupteswar and all major places in the district were made by the panel. Special attention was paid to the development of Jagannath Sagar.

It was decided to improve Koraput and Jeypore bypasses and remove encroachments after the rains to ensure smooth traffic flow at Koraput and Jeypore.

Rs 7 crore has been estimated for the development of Rani Duduma of Nandapur block, Deomali of Potaingi and Duduma Waterfalls in Lamtaput block.

K Sudarshan Chakrabarthy said public participation is essential for development of the district. Taking everyone’s suggestion we have come out with a plan and soon we are going to work it out, he said. He added that steps had been taken to make the district polythene-free.

Dipro Jagarnath Prasad Raiguru, ex-Collector Godadhar Parida, District officials, senior journalist Binod Mohapatra and Siba Pattanaik were present at the meeting.
