Daringbadi: Tourists will soon get the comfort and luxurious experience of 5-star facilities as the state government has sanctioned `18 crore for the development of Daringbadi tourist site in Kandhamal district, a report said Saturday.

Daringbadi, the Kashmir of Odisha, will witness further development with the funds sanctioned by the state government.

Earlier, the state government had sanctioned several lakhs for the development of this tourist site. The matter came to the fore after block officials Friday launched efforts to identify land for the developmental projects to come up at Daringbadi. The lands were identified on roadside of National Highway-59 and near the eco-retreat location.

Tehsildar Sarat Sabar, BDO Gadadhar Patra, junior engineer Pradip Kumar Swain of Works department identified the land under the direct supervision of deputy Speaker Saluga Pradhan of the state Assembly. The Works department has been assigned the project which will utilise the funds and revamp the tourist site.

Reports said that every year the footfall of tourists is increasing at Daringbadi for which traffic and parking problems are also rising. The rush of tourists and parking problem is adversely affecting the local denizens. Realising the problem, the Tourism department has made special plans for up-gradation of the tourist site.

A part of the funds will be used for building six cottages on six acres of land at an expense of `3 crore. Tourists interested for night stay can have five-star facilities in these cottages. There tourists will also have parking facilities.

A cafeteria will also be built at the site where tourists can have food. A photography zone will be built and tracking zone will be established for entry of tourists. A parking zone will also be built near Daberi while the butterfly park and coffee garden will be renovated.
