Berhampur, Dec 1: Doctor Sunil Kumar Kota (35), consultant endocrinologist from the city, has been honoured with Dr VD Nadgouda Oration Award by RSSDI (Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India) at its 42nd annual conference held in Bangalore. RSSDI is affiliated to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and is a conglomeration of endocrinologists, physicians and diabetologists.
Kota was presented the award in recognition of his contribution to the field of cardio-diabetology. He is an alumnus of MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, and SCB Medical College and Hsopital, Cuttack. He presented his research papers before an audience of doctors from across India and some SAARC nations. He is the first doctor from Orissa to receive the award.
About 350 doctors from Orissa attended the conference. He was also felicitated by RSSDI president Samar Banerjee and founder-secretary Vinod Kumar.
IDF president Sir Michael Hirst lauded Sunil’s work from divergent fields of diabetes among Indian patients and extended an invitation to attend the World Diabetes Conference to be held at Vancouver, Canada, December 2015.
