Sabir Bux to teach scuba diving to UP policemen

Cuttack: As many as 30 police personnel from Uttar Pradesh have reached the Silver City to learn scuba diving from noted diver Sabir Bux.

The police officials would hone their skills for underwater rescue operation under the guidance of Bux.

According to sources, the State Disaster Response Fund of Uttar Pradesh has signed an agreement with Kalinga Divers’ Foundation for arranging a training course on scuba diving for the policemen.

“The police officials from UP are staying at Ramkrushna Bhawan at Mathasahi. They would start learning scuba diving Friday after undergoing health check-ups. The duration of the training programme would be six weeks,” said a source in Kalinga Divers’ Foundation.

It is learnt that the police officials would learn swimming at a swimming pool of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) here. Subsequently, the policemen would undertake scuba diving in Mahanadi river near Jobra.

“The policemen would learn advanced techniques on scuba diving at Chilika lake and Ramchandi mouth,” Bux said.

Former Indian Navy officials Pitabas Samal and Pranab Biswal would also guide the UP policemen in scuba diving. “A doctor has been engaged to provide healthcare to the trainees. The district administration has also deployed an ambulance to meet any eventualty,” said a source close to Bux.
