Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to enhance railway safety and to facilitate increased train speeds, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has initiated safety fencing projects at various railway sections across its jurisdiction. A total of 2792km of safety fencing work, at a cost of Rs 865 crore along railway tracks over ECoR has been undertaken.

Apart from this, Rs 207 crore is under sanction for track safety fencing works between Titilagarh and Lakholi and between Bolangir-Theruvali-Singapur road rail sections. For Khurda Road Division Rs 388.85 crore has been sanctioned for track safety fencing works for 1025.3km stretch that includes 797.3km in Bhadrak-Palasa and Khurda Road-Puri Rail Sections and 228km in Nergundi-Kerajang Rail Sections. In next phase, a proposal is in place for safety fencing in the Jakhapura-Kendujhargarh-Nayagarh Railway Section and other sensitive locations over Khurda Road Railway Division.
