Kendrapara: Failing to get back their hard earned money some investors locked up the branch office of Sahara India here at Aul Monday.
Sources said some investors came to the Sahara India’s branch at Aul Monday and demanded to return their money which had matured months back.
When the officials at the branch failed to return the money, the investors locked up its main gate and staged a dharna.
Binod Kumar Jena, an investor said, “I had deposited Rs 1 lakh at the Sahara India branch in Aul expecting a good return. Although the deposit matured months ago the officials at the Sahara India branch did not return the money and kept promising that I would get back the money shortly. They failed to give back the money even though I approached them several times.”
Similarly, another investor, Sridhar Behera, alleged that he and some others had deposited around Rs 7,000, after being lured by a Sahara India agent. But the company has not given back either the original deposit or the matured money, he said.
When contacted, Smruti Ranjan Kar, a senior official of Sahara India’s Aul branch, said the company has not sent funds. He said the company would release funds after a few days and investors would get back their money.
