Bhubaneswar: Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rajesh Dhuper and all-rounder Sushree Divyadarshini were conferred Tuesday the prestigious Sahid Sporting Maruti Estate India Limited ‘Cricketer of the Year’ and Women’s ‘Cricketer of the Year’ awards.
“Both Dhuper and Sushree have been chosen for the awards for their stupendous show in the 2017-18 season. Dhuper is the 26th player to get the award while Sushree is the fifth woman cricketer to bag the prize. Both of them will be honoured in a special function next month,” stated Sahid Sporting Club secretary Pankaj Patnaik through a press release.
In the last Ranji Trophy season, Dhuper, a late entry into the Odisha team, had amassed 275 runs in three matches with three half centuries at an impressive average of 68.75. His best score was 97 against Tamil Nadu. In the T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy he was the highest scorer for Odisha with 146 runs from four matches with his top effort being 90. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy he impressed with 164 runs from four matches at an average of 54.66.
“Dhuper and Sushree will be presented cash awards of Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively. Both will also get a trophy, memento and a blazer,” Pankaj informed.
In a bid to encourage the cricketers of Odisha the club have been felicitating players for the last 25 years.
