New Delhi: South queen Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who got married to Tollywood heartthrob Naga Chaitanya in 2017, announced her separation Saturday.
Taking to her social media handle, the actress wrote, “To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us.”
“We request our fans, well-wishers, and the media to support us during the difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support,” read the statement.
Though there were media speculations before after Samantha dropped her surname from her social media handles, there was no confirmation. Now, the actress herself confirmed the news with her Insta post.
On the professional front, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya have worked together in films like Manam, Ye Maaya Chesave, and Autonagar Surya. The couple had two weddings – one in accordance with South India rituals preceded by a Christian wedding. They also co-starred in the film Majili. Samantha Ruth Prabhu will next be seen in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal and Shaakuntalam.
