Kujang: Cuttack-Barabati MLA Debashish Samantaray reiterated his attack at BJD expelled Damodar Rout, this time ‘with accost’ to dare win against him in the coming election from the latter’s seven-times-won home ground, Paradip.
Samnatray took part in a Jan Sampark Padyatra at Phatepur under this block in Jagatsinghpur district Sunday. While addressing the crowd, he came heavily on Dama. Expressing his determination to contest from Paradip, he thus dared Dama to contest against him.
Comparing Dama to demon Mahishasur, he said, “Dama’s expulsion augurs well for the party. What he has been doing is only for his own political advantages thereby causing damage to the party. Instead of taking up of any peripheral development and creating employment in the area, he was just busy in hoarding funds by bringing outside contractors. Corroborating his claim, he pointed out that, while Kujang is facing acute drinking water problem, JICA (drainage and sewage project) worth Rs 3000 crore is underway in Cuttack.
Earlier the Padyatra was taken out from Pankapal and it culminated at Phatepur ground where Jagatsinghpur MP Kulamani Samal, District BJD working president and MLA Prashant Muduli, Banki MLA Prabhat Tripathy, Khurda MLA Rajendra Prasad Sahu attended the meeting. All the guests censured Dama in their individual deliverances.
Among others Madhusudan Behera, BJD’s women wing chief Minati Behera, Bharati Das, Paradip Municipal chairman Basant Kumar Biswal, former municipal chairman Govind Chandra Tarai, Paradip town BJD president Sumant Kumar Biswal, Zilla Parishad member Namita Parida, former Zilla Parishad chairman Sabita Mohapatra and Pitambar Tarai also spoke on the occasion. Once a political aide of Dama, Harekrushna Samal presided over the meeting.
Its worthy mentionable that Nabanirman Krushak Sangathan staged a protest against the authorities saying, if farmers are denied platform to voice their concerns at Bhubaneswar, leaders will also be denied the same in the villages. The Sangathan protest happened in parallel with the Padyatra in Bhubaneswar.
