Sambalpur: A woman and her son were found dead in a closed room at Angulia pada in Odisha’s Sambalpur town, a source said Monday.
The deceased persons were identified as Jyotsnarani Das and her son Sudhir Panda.
According to the source, the neighbours of the victims Monday informed the police after they detected a foul smell emanating from the house.
On being informed, Ainthapali police along with a forensic team reached the spot. Police broke into the house and discovered two hanging bodies inside, the source added.

Jyotsnarani had lost her younger son. She was living with her elder son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. As Jyotsnarani’s daughter-in-law and granddaughter had gone to visit her family, she and her son were living in the house for the past few days, the source said.
The exact reason behind the deaths is yet to be ascertained.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and launched a probe into it.
