New Delhi: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik were blessed with a baby boy two days ago. However, their son will not be granted Pakistani citizenship, said Pak media Wednesday.
Shoaib took to his Twitter account to announce the news. “Excited to announce: It’s a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled #BabyMirzaMalik,”, he wrote.
The couple has named their son as Izhaan Mirza Malik.
Sania, a six time Grand Slam champion, is presently at Rainbow hospital in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sources said that an Indian citizen cannot be granted a citizenship as per the passport and immigration laws of Pakistan. Notably, Pakistan has dual nationality arrangements with 19 countries and India is not one of them.
Sania Mirza has not given up her Indian citizenship after marrying Shoaib Malik. Earlier Shoaib was asked about his child’s citizenship, “The nationality does not matter however it will neither be Indian nor Pakistani,” Malik had said to Pakistani reporters.
