Sansad Ratna award for Mahtab

New Delhi: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Bhartruhari Mahtab will be honoured with Sansad Ratna award for his outstanding performance in the Debates category in the 16th Lok Sabha in Chennai Saturday.

A Chennai-based NGO Prime Point Foundation and the eMagazine PreSense will honour 12 Parliamentarians, including Mahtab, and one Standing Committee for their outstanding performance in the 16th Lok Sabha.

The awards will be presented by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Other than Mahtab, NCP MPs Supriya Sule and Dhananjay Bhimrao Mahadik; Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Appa Barne; Congress MPs Rajeev Shankarrao Satav, Rajani Patil and Ananda Bhaskar Rapolu; BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Anurag Thakur and Dr Heena Gavit; and NK Premachandran of Revolutionary Socialist Party will be honoured for their outstanding performance.

Among the department-related standing committees, the Finance Committee has been nominated for Sansad Ratna award based on the reports presented, subjects selected and sittings held by them. Dr M Veerappa Moily is the Chairman of the Finance Committee.

According to a release, Prime Point Foundation has been honouring the top performing Parliamentarians every year with Sansad Ratna Awards. They were set up in 2010 on the suggestion of former (late) President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who himself launched the first edition of awards in May 2010, with the purpose of celebrating the performers of Indian Parliament.
