Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member and popular entertainer Sapna Choudhary has found herself in a bit of a pickle. Sapna released a new song titled ‘Bhole Ka Swag’ to mark the first day of ‘Sawan’ 2019. However, the poppy track and its music video has been deemed to be disrespectful towards Hinduism and the Hindu God Shiva.
Released by Sonotek Music, July 12, ‘Bhole Ka Swag’ features Sapna along with Jonny Sufi. The song’s lyrics, written by Pradeep Sahil, are an ode to Lord Shiva. But the music video that accompanies it features scantily clad background dancers that have not been well received by fans.
Sapna shared a short clip from the video on her social media handle but received severe backlash.
“Why such songs are made…devotional songs on gods should have background dancers in decent outfits,” wrote one user.
“It’s mockery of Hindu religion,” wrote another social media user.
Suffice to say, Sapna probably did not expect her new song to become so controversial.
