Bhubaneswar: Schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the state celebrated Maa Saraswati’s puja with all fervour and gaiety Sunday.
Wearing a festive look, the institutions were abuzz with activities since morning. Students were seen going to schools with flowers and prasad to offer to the goddess of education.
Later, they offered puspanjali to the deities bedecked at their institutions.
While placing their books at the feet of the goddess, the students sought her blessings for their academic progress.
While some institutions offered prasad to students, others organised an afternoon feast. Cultural programmes were also conducted at some schools and colleges.
Parents performed ‘Khadi Chhuan’ rituals for their children to mark the beginning of their education at the feet of the goddess.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also greeted people on this occasion and posted wishes on his Twitter account.
