Nayagarh: Soumya Ranjan Pradhan, sarpanch of Laxmiprasad panchayat in Nayagarh district alleged of being given death threats by MLA Arun Sahoo.
He claimed that Arun has been giving death threats to him after he lodged an FIR against him.
A parcel and three letters were found in front of Pradhan’s house Saturday. The letter clearly stated that the sarpanch would face dire consequences if he doesn’t seek apology and withdraw the police case against the BJD MLA.
Police recovered the letters and launched a probe into the incident.
As per reports, few miscreants allegedly barged into the house of Pradhan late Friday night and used abusive language. They also allegedly threw some alcohol bottles, stones at Pradhan’s house before leaving three letters and the parcel.
Meanwhile, police have seized the letters and the parcel. “Our investigation is on. The parcel is yet to be opened. All the miscreants will be nabbed soon,” said a senior police official.
It may be noted here that during Peoples Empowerment – Enabling Transparency and Accountability of Odisha Initiatives (PEETHA) scheme in Nayagarh December 20, Pradhan and his supporters were allegedly assaulted by some BJD workers for protesting sheer apathy of local leaders in implementation of developmental projects in the area.
Later, the sarpanch lodged an FIR against MLA Sahoo.
