Bhubaneswar, August 24: The Cuttack sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) Monday sent Satyam Shekhar Raula, the adopted son of self-proclaimed godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raula, to judicial custody till September 2.
He was sent to Choudwar Circle Jail since the Crime Branch (CB) did not seek further remand for him. The CB had taken the 20-year-old Raula on a three-day remand for further interrogation August 21.
Sources said Satyam was nervous when being interrogated by the officials. He reportedly had quite a few glasses of water during the interrogation.
Meanwhile, Satyam’s lawyer Manas Chand said a bail petition would be filed for the beleaguered godman’s son August 25. A CB team had arrested Satyam from a hotel in Borivali area of Mumbai.
CB has so far seized lakhs of rupees from multiple bank accounts in the name of Satyam Charitable Trust, a trust run by Sarathi. The agency has also traced deposits of Rs 27 lakh from three bank accounts in Satyam’s name.
