SC disposes of Nigerian national’s bail plea

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Monday disposed of the bail plea of Nigerian national, Obinna Nicodemus Enweka, who is in Jharpada jail on the charge of cheating a woman to the tune of Rs 17 lakh.

A two-judge bench comprising Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre and Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar advised the petitioner to approach the trial court for bail.

Enweka along with his accomplice cheated a woman Sukanti Mohanty of Bhubaneswar to the tune of Rs 17, 03 390. The accused had come in contact with the complainant over social media and developed friendship with her. They later started asking her for money in return of the gifts, they claimed to have sent her.

A case was registered in this matter August 26, 2016 at Cyber cell of Odisha Police and the accused were arrested by the Goa Police October 3, 2016 from New Delhi as a similar case was registered against them in Goa also.
